From here, you will enjoy stunning views of the Shira Plateau for the first time. You will then trek to Shira Camp 1, which has a moderate altitude gain and is not physically demanding. This is a great opportunity to start the acclimatization process. When you arrive at the camp, your professional mountain crew will have prepared everything you need, including tents and dinner.

Day 3
Tour activity

Trekking from Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2

On day 3 of your 9 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Trek, you will depart Shira Camp 1 (3,900 m) after breakfast and make your way to Lava Tower (4,630 m), the route's pivotal point. This section of the route includes numerous ascents and descents, which can be difficult and uncomfortable. However, it is important to spend at least 1-2 hours at Lava Tower to successfully acclimate to the altitude. Lunch will be served at Lava Tower. After lunch, you will descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m). The famous Barranco Wall can be seen here, which is impressive in both its massive size and steepness. You will be climbing the Barranco Wall the next day, but don't worry: it has a very simple hiking trail.

If one or more participants become ill, the group may forego passing the Lava Tower and instead take the road for porters. In this case, you will only reach a maximum altitude of 4,400 meters rather than 4,630 meters.

Day 4
Tour activity

Trekking from Shira 2 Camp to the Lava Tower and descent to Barranco

On day 4 of your 9 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Trek, you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and then begin the ascent of the Barranco Wall. This is a challenging hike, but it is not technically difficult and only takes about an hour. After the trek, you will have the opportunity to relax and take photos in front of the Kibo volcano. You will then continue on to Karanga Camp, which is a more difficult hike with numerous ascents and descents. Our guides are experts at determining the best pace for the group, so don't worry if you find the hike challenging. When you arrive at Karanga Camp, you will be served a hot meal. After a couple of hours, you will complete a 300-meter altitude gain acclimatization hike in the direction of Barafu Camp, followed by a descent back to the camp.

The acclimatization hike is a simple walk with a slight altitude gain to expedite the acclimatization process. Acclimatization hikes should be taken seriously, as they improve your chances of summiting Kilimanjaro and protect you from the effects of altitude sickness.

BARRANCO CAMP

Day 5
Tour activity

Trekking from Barranco camp to Karanga camp

On day 5 of your 9 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Trek, you will wake up early for breakfast and then set out for Barafu Summit Camp (4,640 m). This is the starting point for the night summit of Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Your team will set up camp for you ahead of time, so you can relax and regain your strength. In the afternoon, you will complete an acclimatization hike to the intermediate Kosovo Summit Camp (4,800 m) and then return to Barafu Camp for a hot dinner. The rest of the day will be spent resting and sleeping before the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning.

It is important to take it slowly and steadily on the hike from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp to avoid altitude sickness. The acclimatization hike to Kosovo Summit Camp is also relatively short, but it is important to drink plenty of fluids and eat snacks to stay hydrated and energized. Barafu Camp is the highest camp on the Lemosho Route, so it is important to get a good night's sleep before the summit attempt. The summit attempt will begin in the early hours of the morning, so it is important to be well-rested and prepared.

KARANGA CAMP

Day 6
Tour activity

Trekking from Karanga camp to Barafu camp

On day 6 of your 9 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Trek, you will depart from Barafu Camp at night and begin the summit attempt of Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). This is the highest point in Africa, and it is a challenging but rewarding climb. The climb is relatively simple technically, but the high altitude makes it challenging. Each pair of climbers will have a personal guide for the entire ascent to monitor their physical and mental conditions.

After reaching Uhuru Peak, you can descend to the nearest glacier if desired. The descent is just as challenging as the climb, so it is important to be careful and not rush. You will then return to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue the descent to Millennium Camp (3,820 m).

It is important to note that 90% of all accidents on Kilimanjaro occur during the descent, so it is important to be careful. Pay attention to your feet, as there is a high risk of damaging your toenails.

Congratulations on reaching Uhuru Peak! You have accomplished something amazing.
