Every safari company has a beginning, and ours started with a dream.
Oreteti Safari Africa was born in 2019 from an idea envisioned by co-founder Joseph Mollel and shared with co-founder Gaudence Mathew. The vision was simple yet ambitious to create a safari company rooted in East Africa, capable of introducing travelers from around the world to the breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and cultures of Tanzania and Kenya through authentic and personalized experiences.
However, just as we began laying the foundation for our company, the world came to a standstill. The COVID-19 pandemic struck the global tourism industry harder than anyone could have imagined. International borders closed, travel plans were canceled, and what had started as an exciting new venture suddenly faced uncertainty.
For three consecutive years, Oreteti Safari remained largely dormant. There were moments when giving up seemed easier than continuing, but we believed that difficult times do not last forever. We used those years to learn, strengthen our networks, refine our itineraries, and prepare for the day travelers would once again return to Africa.
That day finally arrived in 2022 when we welcomed our very first guest. It was more than just a booking it was proof that resilience, patience, and determination could overcome even the most challenging circumstances.
Encouraged by this milestone, Oreteti Safari continued to grow, and in 2023 we expanded our presence by opening a branch office in Nairobi, Kenya. This allowed us to better serve travelers interested in exploring both Tanzania and Kenya, two of Africa's most iconic safari destinations.
Today, with our headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, Oreteti Safari proudly serves hundreds of travelers each year. Our journeys range from classic wildlife safaris in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Amboseli, and Maasai Mara, to challenging treks on Mount Kilimanjaro and tailor-made adventures across East Africa.
Looking back, our story is not simply about building a safari company. It is about perseverance, believing in a vision when circumstances seem impossible, and never losing sight of why we started.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to creating meaningful journeys that inspire travelers, support local communities, and showcase the incredible beauty of East Africa one safari at a time.
