Today is a scenic climb to Barafu Camp across alpine desert terrain, with the majestic Mawenzi peak off to your right and Kibo overhead. You will make camp in the early afternoon, but the altitude is beginning to bite. The temperature at this point is so low you'll be sleeping with most of your clothes on. Climbers planning to make the challenging ascent to the summit tomorrow will need an early night. 

The Barafu Camp is located at an altitude of 15,300 feet (4,660 meters). The air is thin and cold at this altitude, and it is important to acclimatize properly before attempting the summit. You will have plenty of time to rest and relax at Barafu Camp before your summit attempt tomorrow.

You will wake up shortly after midnight for the final ascent to the summit. The trek is long and challenging, but the views are breathtaking. You will begin your descent from Mweka Camp today, and you should reach the Machame Gate by noon. At the gate, you will be presented with a certificate to mark your successful ascent of Kilimanjaro.
